Jewelry Workshop at Alliance Française de Dhaka

The Society for the Creative People organized an engaging jewelry workshop aimed at introducing young individuals to the art and craft of jewelry making. This initiative was part of SFCP’s ongoing effort to inspire creativity, develop practical vocational skills, and promote hands-on learning among urban youth, many of whom have limited exposure to traditional crafts.

The workshop was generously hosted by Alliance Française de Dhaka, a renowned cultural institution in the city. Young learners from diverse educational and socioeconomic backgrounds joined the session, exploring fundamental techniques such as basic design principles, wire work, bead stringing, shaping, assembling handicraft pieces, and finishing touches that professional jewelers use.

The workshop was also graced by the former Bangladesh Ambassador to France HE Mr. Shahidul Islam among other distinguished guests. They observed the participants’ work, interacted with the young learners, and distributed certificates of completion at the closing ceremony. Parents and guardians who attended the showcase expressed appreciation for the workshop’s impact on their children’s confidence, patience, and creative expression. Many participants left with handmade pieces they had created themselves, along with a newfound appreciation for craftsmanship as both an art form and a potential livelihood pathway.
