In July 2023, we provided program design and implementation support to SHOILEE for their Terre des Hommes (TdH)-sponsored Costume Jewelry Skills Training Project. The initiative targeted disadvantaged children in Hazaribagh, a community with limited access to safe and meaningful skill-building opportunities. Our contribution included designing a context-appropriate training model that introduced creative and age-suitable techniques in costume jewelry making-an accessible vocational field with strong market relevance.
In addition to developing the training module, we assisted in organizing an exhibition to showcase the children’s handcrafted products. This event enabled participants to gain confidence, experience public recognition, and engage with their community in a positive setting.
The project served as an effective experiment to explore alternative vocations for the unique young population of Hazaribagh. Its success generated considerable interest among local stakeholders and development partners, demonstrating the transformative potential of creative skills training for marginalized youth.
